It's the middle of summer but we still had a good turnout for Guild Meeting this month!
First up is Show N Tell.
Ellen has been busy at her sewing machine! Last month we talked about Jelly Roll Race quilts so she brought a couple to share with us. Love how she split it into triangles. Notice the pinwheels and dragonflies.
A closer look at a dragonfly. It's body is puffy paint!

Another Jelly Roll Race quilt in country colors. Love the ric rac and flanging she added to the border.
Ellen also showed us one of her baby sensory toys. This one is a cute elephant with crinkly ears and ribbons. Babies would love to get their hands on this!
Janice brought her beautiful batik quilt to share with us. Love the colors! Reminds me of a desert sky.
Was fun to see some other Jelly Roll Race quilts. These are from Misty. The first one was made with a layer cake. She split the layer cake in half then sewed end on end with the fabrics. So different than the quilts made with a jelly roll but just as fast to sew.
And this one is also a Jelly Roll Race quilt but at the ends of each strip, Misty added a square of fabric. All so different with just a little change!
In January, Misty showed us how to make these large 10 minute blocks. If you jump back to the January blog entry here you will find the video on how to make this block. Love how it all came together! The colors are gorgeous!
Linda gave a great lecture on different types of batting. We learned how many options we really have when we are getting ready to finish our quilts. I learned that bamboo and wool batting will not leave creases in your folded quilts like some of the other battings do. Very informative.
Misty also shared a couple of websites that have alot of quilt patterns:
victorianaquiltdesigns.com
Hopefully this link will go straight to the Diagional Strips Baby Quilt that goes along with the Jelly Roll Race theme we had at our meeting.
antiquecityquilters.com
This was another great pattern site. The link should take you to the Wyoming Quilt.
And last but not least....Janice shared this with us from the fb page of Handi Quilter:
Next month our meeting with be August 15th at 6 p.m. Invite your quilty friends!
Janice will be in charge of the demo that evening.
We really are going to play Strip Poker one of these days. I hope it will be in August! Bring lots of 2 1/2" x wof (jelly roll size strips) to play!
Also bring your favorite quilt book to share with everyone. If you have quilt books that you are willing to loan out, bring those too and we will set up a library system to share our books.
See you next month!
