May 2015

Missed those that weren't at our meeting on Tuesday night!  We were small in numbers but still had fun chatting.

Guild business:  Next meeting will be June 16 at 6 p.m. at the Lyman Town Hall.
July's meeting will be cancelled so we can attend the Make A Child Smile event.
August's meeting will be cancelled.
Will meet up again on September 15th at the Lyman Town Hall at 6 p.m.

Debbie showed us her cute baskets she is making for Graduation gifts from the new Kimberbell book.

Cherie finished her Make a Child Smile quilt.  Someone is going to love to receive this one!  Each puppy has his own name on his dog tag!

There are several fun events taking place this summer/fall that you might be interested in:

Wyoming Quilt Shop Hop May 30-Sept 4th.  www.wsqg.org/SH.htm

Row By Row Experience June 21- Sept 8.  If you are traveling this summer, stop by a participating quilt shop to get your free pattern.  I picked up several last year from different states.  www.rowbyrowexperience.com

Quilt Wyoming will be in our neck of the woods this year.  June 25-28th at WWCC in Rock Springs.  It is put on by the Wyoming State Quilt Guild.  www.wsqg.org  I have been a couple of times and it has always been fun to take the classes and sew away from home.  If you have a chance, you might like to check it out.

Utah's Shop Hop is always fun!  June 3-6.  www.utahshophop.com/  I have been several times and always have a great time trying to hit all the shops.  There is a $5 charge for a "passport" but you get a bag plus an original pattern from each store you attend.

September 15-19 is the Utah Quilt Festival.  www.utahquiltguild.org  Several National Teachers will be there.

March 2015

We met at the Lyman Town Hall for this month's meeting.

For Show and Tell, Jana showed the items she made at a recent quilt/sew/machine embroidery retreat.  From left to right, a hip purse, pillow, sewing gadget catchall to sit next to your machine and an apron.  All fun to make.
Cherie finished her Row by Row.  Beautiful colors!
Cherie also gave a brief demo on how she files and collects pages from magazines that she wants to keep.  I think we all have a pile of magazines or patterns that we need to go through so this was helpful to many of us.

Next month we will meet April 21 (3rd Thursday) at 6 p.m. at the Lyman Town Hall.
Ellen will do a demo on a new technique for a baby blanket.

February Meeting 2015

Sorry it has taken a couple of weeks to put up these pics!  Life is full right now!

Some changes are coming!
NEXT meeting----MARCH 17th will be at the LYMAN TOWN HALL at 6 p.m.!!!

Debbie will be in charge of the meeting in March since Misty may be out of town.
Cherie will give a demo.

Janice talked to us about the girls in Kenya and an organization that she is helping.  The organization is called Days for Girls.  Daysforgirls.org for more info.   Janice and her husband have pledged to make 50 kits for these young girls.  What a wonderful service project and one that maybe our guild could become involved in!

Debbie has been busy!  She is making the Kimberbell pillow toppers.  This is the Winter one.

And here is Spring!  So cute!  She even made her insert pillow!

And if that wasn't enough.....Debbie finished her Row by Row quilt made up of rows from different members of our guild!  It's a beauty!

Don't forget the change of meeting on the 17th of March!  6 p.m. at the Town Hall in Lyman!

January 2015

Was great to get together again after taking December off for the Holidays!
We discussed changing our meeting time/day to better accommodate the fabric store.
After some discussion we decided our next meeting will be:

TUESDAY, February 17th
5:30 p.m.

Time AND day has changed.  Please mark your calendars!

Cherie talked to us about using embellishments on our quilts.  She has made some stunning quilts with jewels, markers, crayons, etc that are all designed to be used on fabric.

Show n' Tell was quick.
Janice made a beautiful bright tree skirt for her Christmas tree this year.  She did not put in a split so she could also use it on her tables as a table topper.

Jana's husband bought her an embroidery machine for Christmas.  She has been trying to learn how to use it.  Made a couple of mug rugs.  A zippered bag for her embroidery scissors.  Then a tooth fairy (monster) pillow...that still needs to be stuffed.

Cherie also showed us one of her table toppers.  She seems to find the best fabric for these beautiful works of art.

Going to put up a page on Facebook for our group and invite the county to join.  To make it easy for everyone to find, the name will probably be "Bridger Valley Quilters".  In doing this, I hope that you can share more of your projects you are working on during the month instead of just waiting for our meetings.  Also if you know of a good quilt show, or of a great quilt shop you have been too, tell us!  I hope everyone will join and many of the valley residents too.

Remember our meeting has changed next month to Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 5:30 p.m.
See you then!

Part 2 of October's Demo

Ellen gave a fantastic demo on how to make Origami Fabric Flowers.  She had made them for the Row by Row quilts and we were very interested in how to make our own.

Ellen learned from a book on the subject but told us that the easiest way to learn this technique was to go to youtube.com and search for origami fabric flowers.  You can find a lot of videos to help you.

Charla showed us her 10 minute table runner that was turned into a bag.  This one was made for trick 'r treaters.  What a fun idea!

Don't forget that this upcoming Thursday, November 20th,  is our monthly quilt meeting.
We are having our Holiday party at Fiesta Guadalajara at 6 p.m.  Come hungry!
Bring a gift to exchange, either handmade or bought that is under $10.
